Guidance and Counseling at College Street Elementary School
The guidance and counseling program at College Street Elementary School is for all students and is a part of our total school program. It is designed to facilitate the development of the whole child and promotes self-understanding and self-acceptance in students. The College Street Elementary School guidance and counseling program encourages students to have positive attitudes towards self, family, and the community. The guidance and counseling program at College Street Elementary School consists of large group guidance, individual counseling, and small group counseling. Guidance lessons are taught in each class. The Guidance lessons are centered around the three developmental domains: personal/social, academic, and career. Guidance lessons teach skills needed in decision making, communicating, and coping. Individual and small group counseling is implemented in order to assist students in overcoming difficulties which impede school success. Consultations with teachers, parents, and the principal concerning students needs is essential in the College Street guidance and counseling program. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance in the guidance and counseling program. Please, feel free to contact me if I can be of any service to you or your child. I can be contacted through the principal's office, 334-347-6190. Referrals for individual counseling can be made through teachers, parents, principal, or by the student themselves.
